The GlenDronach

The GlenDronach 56 Year Old

$70,000.00

The oldest whisky The GlenDronach has ever released — two centuries of sherry cask mastery drawn from a single 1968 vintage.

  • Volume: 700ml
  • ABV: 44.9% (Natural Cask Strength)
  • Origin: Highlands, Scotland
  • Style: Single Malt Scotch Whisky
  • Age: 56 Years — 1968 Vintage
  • Release: 200 hand-numbered decanters worldwide

The centrepiece of The GlenDronach's 200th anniversary and the oldest expression the distillery has ever bottled. Distilled in September 1968, the spirit rested for more than four decades in Oloroso sherry butts before being transferred in 2014 into three Spanish oak Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, where it reached full crescendo before being drawn at 56 years.

What it delivers

  • Nose: an impeccable symphony of sherry, plush dark fruits and velvety dark cacao, flowing into caramelised date, oud wood and blackberry compote.
  • Palate: perfectly integrated black cherry, tonka bean and amber-raisin unfold like velvet into fine dark chocolate and luxurious mandarin.
  • Finish: dark cherry, silken dark chocolate and complex oud wood linger on into an exquisite close.
  • Colour: antique walnut; bottled at natural cask strength.

Why it matters

  • The oldest single malt ever released by The GlenDronach, marking the distillery's bicentennial since its founding in 1826.
  • A rare 1968 vintage — long regarded as a ‘Holy Grail’ year among GlenDronach connoisseurs.
  • Just 200 individually hand-numbered decanters produced worldwide.
  • Presented in a hand-carved American black walnut cabinet lined with rare quilted maple, housing a hand-blown crystal decanter with bespoke brass detailing and hand-engraved lettering.
  • An investment-grade, ultra-luxury release from one of Scotland's most revered sherried single malt houses.
