We tasted through five barrels of Sazerac Rye and landed on our favourite. Barrel No. 20 is the one that came home with us, bottled at a full 100 proof in a one litre bottle and first released as Whisky Wayfarers Chapter Four. It is now available on its own, for Wayfarers only.

What it delivers

• The signature Sazerac Rye character turned up: baking spice, clove and cracked pepper over candied citrus, vanilla and toffee
• A single barrel, so the exact profile in this bottle belongs to Barrel No. 20 alone
• 100 proof brings weight and a long, warming finish, neat, over ice or at the heart of a Sazerac or Old Fashioned
