This is Couvreur at full maturity.

Alba 22 Year Old is built over time, not rushed, not pushed. Around 17 years in Fino sherry casks, followed by a further 5 years in Chenin Blanc wine casks from the Loire Valley. It’s a deliberate layering of cask influence, not to dominate, but to refine.

And that’s exactly how it drinks.

On the nose, it opens lifted and elegant. White wine aromatics, honey and soft oak come through first, backed by delicate floral notes and a gentle fruit sweetness.

The palate is where it really settles in. Round, mellow and quietly deep. Orchard fruit, vanilla and light caramel roll through, with a soft wine-driven texture giving it flow rather than weight.

There’s richness here, but it’s controlled. No heaviness, no overload, just layers unfolding slowly.

The Chenin cask influence becomes more apparent as it develops, adding a subtle grape-like freshness, a slightly waxy texture, and a lift that keeps everything balanced.

The finish is long and composed. White flowers, soft spice and lingering fruit carry through, tapering off clean with a refined, almost wine-like dryness.

This isn’t a bold whisky.

It’s a complete one.

A whisky built on patience, cask selection, and restraint, where everything sits exactly where it should.

A proper collector’s bottle. Elegant, mature, and quietly complex.
