The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release reunites The Macallan with James Bond, following the James Bond 60th Anniversary Release of 2022. Whisky Maker Russell Greig built the cask recipe around the film itself: sherry seasoned European and American oak for Bond's connoisseurship of sherry, American oak casks that previously held red wine for the claret that saves his life, and bespoke hybrid casks made from both oak types in a single vessel. Natural colour, described by the distillery as Nevada Rock, echoes the sandstone of the desert around Las Vegas.

What it delivers

  • Nose: sweet polished oak, vanilla bean and rich dried fruits
  • Palate: creamy vanilla and caramel, cocoa dusted champagne truffles, coffee, figs, berries and apricots, with subtle spice behind
  • Finish: long and refined, with a lingering warmth
  • Bottled at 45.5% for structure and elegance rather than raw power

Why it matters

  • The second whisky in The Macallan and James Bond partnership, and the first built around a single film
  • A rare inclusion of red wine seasoned casks in a Macallan release
  • Bottle and presentation tube drawn from original Diamonds Are Forever production artwork held in the official Bond archives
  • An 18 year old age statement in a limited run, with strong appeal to Macallan collectors and Bond enthusiasts
