Gran Reserva 7 sits in the middle of the Flor de Caña range and does the most work. Seven years of slow ageing in ex-bourbon American oak at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano gives it real colour and weight, while the house style keeps it dry rather than sweet. No added sugar, no additives.

What it delivers

• Toffee, vanilla and dried fruit on the nose, with a light nuttiness behind
• A rounded palate of caramel and baked apple, held in check by oak and warm spice
• A medium finish with a dry edge that stops it turning syrupy
