$129.99

A happy accident memorialised — single malt and rye malt, vatted together by chance and released by popular demand.

  • Volume: 700ml
  • ABV: 46%
  • Origin: Australia
  • Style: Australian Malt Whisky
  • Age: No age statement
  • Distilled: 2016
  • Release: Trials & Exceptions #8 — Limited Release

When a cellar hand accidentally vatted Archie Rose's single malt and rye malt whiskies together, the result could be labelled as neither — but it tasted so good the blend was finessed with a few more barrels of each and released in honour of the serendipitous Mr. Goode. Matured across air-dried American oak, ex-apera and ex-bourbon casks.

What it delivers

  • Golden syrup and hazelnut spread over rye toast, opening into kiwi fruit, mandarin and ginger snaps
  • A smooth, mouth-filling combination of sticky fruits and spices mingling with amaretto and milk chocolate
  • Fruit, spice and chocolate slowly giving way to a deliciously dry hint of espresso

Why it matters

  • The expressive oak of rye whisky meets the charismatic roasted-malt character of single malt in one glass
  • A genuine one-off born of chance — a story as good as the whisky
  • Very limited remaining allocation makes this a true catch-it-while-you-can bottling
