Twelve years in Kentucky oak, and the most mature expression Barton 1792 has ever released.
Twelve years, left alone
Twelve years is a long time to leave anything alone. In a Kentucky rickhouse it is long enough for the seasons to do their work, for the spirit to push deep into the char and draw back out again, summer after summer, until what went in as a young high-rye bourbon comes out as something else entirely.
1792 12 Year Old is that bottle. The rye in the mashbill is still there, a little pepper and a little bite, but it has been folded into twelve years of oak: deep caramel, toffee, dried dark fruit, baking spice and a slow, warming finish that stays with you long after the glass is empty.
Named World's Best Bourbon at the World Whiskies Awards, and one of the rare occasions a bourbon wears its age statement with this much ease.
