The story
In 2005 a yellow submarine turned up in the nets of an Islay fisherman, lost by the Ministry of Defence while it was hunting for mines. Bruichladdich named a whisky after it, and the name has surfaced twice since. Yellow Submarine III marks 25 years since the distillery was brought back to life in 2001.
The whisky
Distilled from 100% Scottish Appaloosa barley and matured on Islay for the full fourteen years. A quarter spent its life in first-fill bourbon barrels; the other three quarters in first- and second-fill French red wine casks. Unpeated, bottled at 54.2% with no chill filtration and no added colour.
Release
Australian release from 1 October. Malt Subscription members get the first 24 hours, one bottle each. American Whiskey and Oak & Origin members follow, then general release. Ships from 9 October.
