The whisky
Girvan, on the Ayrshire coast, is one of Scotland's two largest grain distilleries, and its spirit is the backbone of countless blends. Given real time on its own, Girvan grain becomes something far richer and sweeter than its reputation suggests.
This one spent a mighty thirty-five years in a single refill bourbon barrel, building a deep, dessert-like profile of pancakes, syrup and melted chocolate. Remarkable value for an age statement this old.
