Distilled in 2007, matured for 18 years, and bottled to mark 55 years since Bond first set foot in Las Vegas.
The film, written in oak
The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is the second chapter in The Macallan's partnership with James Bond, following the 60th Anniversary Release of 2022, and the first built around a single film. Whisky Maker Russell Greig read the script before he read the cask inventory.
Sherry seasoned European and American oak stands in for Bond's connoisseurship of sherry. American oak casks that previously held red wine nod to the claret that saves his life. Bespoke hybrid casks, both oak types built into a single vessel, tie the two threads together. Everything is natural colour, a shade the distillery calls Nevada Rock, after the sandstone of the desert around Las Vegas.

Why it matters
Red wine seasoned casks almost never appear in a Macallan release. Here they carry the story, alongside an 18 year old age statement in a limited run that speaks to Macallan collectors and Bond enthusiasts in equal measure.
The bottle and presentation tube are drawn from original Diamonds Are Forever production artwork held in the official Bond archives, so the object is as much a piece of film history as the liquid inside it.
