Darkness
Finished in hand-coopered sherry octaves
Octaves hold around 50 litres, a fraction of a standard cask. The spirit meets far more wood, so the sherry builds fast and runs deep.
The whisky
Ledaig is the heavily peated spirit of Tobermory, the only distillery on the Isle of Mull. Earthy, tarry and distinctly maritime, it ages into something remarkable, and twenty-five year old examples are seldom seen.
Darkness has given this one a finish in small oloroso octaves, which wraps the deep, muddy peat in sweetness. The oldest single malt in this Darkness release.
