Hellyers Road American oak 20 year old 52.8% 700ml
A Fruit Bowl of a Single Cask
Aged for two decades in a single American oak ex-bourbon barrel, this rare release showcases the finesse and patience of long maturation on Tasmania's North West coast. This Tasmanian Single Malt has taken on near-mythical status around the distillery.
From the moment Head Distiller Fiona Coutts tasted this precious nectar and had that "a-ha" moment, the whisky was set aside as Single Cask quality, bottled, and word spread quickly through the distillery. One sniff, and you will see why.
Of the 15 casks filled on September 9, 2004, this is the only one that lasted the full two decades. Siblings were used for various vattings between 2014 and 2020, and this single cask continued its evolution towards what is a truly magnificent whisky.
Hellyers Road — American Oak 20 Year Old
Delicate florals rise first, followed by a burst of stone fruit — ripe peaches and nectarines. Notes of freshly baked baklava and soft orange blossom add warmth and sweetness.
Sweet peach and nectarine take centre stage, joined by a gentle nuttiness and grilled, caramelised pineapple. Exceptionally balanced — opens beautifully with a splash of water, revealing buttery Anzac biscuits.
Handcrafted in Tasmania.
From the timber up.
Each bottle is housed in a unique presentation box handcrafted by local master woodworker Rob van Tholen from prized Tasmanian timbers — Huon Pine, Myrtle and Celery Top Pine. Each box includes a letter of authenticity signed by Head Distiller Fiona Coutts.
Adding to its individuality, each presentation box features a secret locking mechanism to safeguard and showcase this treasured release. No two boxes are identical.
Milled, mashed, fermented and distilled entirely on site — as with all Hellyers Road whiskies. Non-chill filtered. Non-coloured. 179 bottles made.
