Michter’s approach doesn’t change — and that’s the point.
They don’t bottle to schedule. They bottle when the barrel is ready. And like the rest of the 10 Year range, this rye is typically aged well beyond the number on the label before it ever sees glass.
The 2025 release lands at 92.8 proof — not pushed, not forced — just enough to carry the structure without overpowering what’s actually going on underneath.
What it delivers
This is a Kentucky-style rye — meaning balance over aggression.
There’s spice, but it’s controlled. Not the sharp, grain-forward hit you get from some ryes, but something rounder. Baking spice, orange citrus and dark toffee sit alongside oak and a steady sweetness.
It builds rather than spikes.
Apple, caramel and subtle herbal notes come through, with a finish that leans into pepper, chocolate and warm spice — layered, not loud.
Why it matters
The 10 Year Rye plays a different role to the bourbon:
- Less about richness
- More about structure and spice
- Still balanced, still composed
It’s also:
- Single barrel
- Limited release
- Allocated globally
And like everything in this tier from Michter's — not guaranteed every year.
This isn’t a high-proof hammer.
It’s a measured, mature rye that shows what the category can be when it’s handled properly.
