Every year, a handful of bottles define the bourbon conversation. Eagle Rare 17 Year Old is always one of them.
Part of the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery Antique Collection, the 2025 release was distilled back in Spring 2007 and matured for over 18 years before bottling — spending nearly two decades resting across Warehouses L, Q, K and P in Kentucky.
And somehow, despite all that age, it still carries elegance.
Bottled at its signature 101 proof, Eagle Rare 17 sits in a unique lane inside BTAC. It’s not about sheer power like George T. Stagg or William Larue Weller. Instead, this release leans into mature oak structure, polished leather, dark cherry and tobacco richness — delivering a profile that feels refined rather than aggressive.
The 2025 release opens with deep tobacco, worn leather and ripe cherry, before moving into layers of caramel sweetness, soft spice and lingering oak. There’s density here, but also restraint — the kind of balance that only extended aging and careful barrel selection can create.
After more than 18 years in barrel, nearly 89% of the original whiskey was lost to evaporation, leaving behind a concentrated and deeply expressive bourbon that continues to define ultra-aged American whiskey.
Extremely limited worldwide allocation.
