This is Jura turned up a notch.

After 18 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, this one is finished in Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux red wine casks, bringing a richer, darker fruit profile into the mix.

It’s still recognisably Jura, but with more weight, more texture, and a bit more indulgence.

On the nose, it opens bold and inviting. Red berries, caramel and crème anglaise lead, backed by cinnamon, spice and a soft oak backbone.

The palate is fuller and more layered than the younger expressions. Think black forest cake, dark chocolate, cherry and raspberry, with spice building underneath. There’s a richness here that comes directly from that wine cask finish, giving it a slightly dessert-like edge without going over the top.

The finish is long and warming. Dried fruit, oak spice and a gentle tannic dryness carry through, with just a whisper of smoke sitting quietly in the background.

This isn’t a light, easy Jura like the 10 or 12.

It’s richer, darker, and more expressive, but still balanced enough to keep it approachable.

A proper step into premium island whisky. Fruit-forward, slightly indulgent, and built for those wanting a bit more depth without going full sherry bomb.
