Michter's Toasted Barrel Bourbon starts with fully matured Kentucky Straight Bourbon before being transferred into a second custom-built barrel.
Unlike a traditional barrel, this one is toasted rather than charred. The wood is slowly heated to unlock deeper sugars, richer oak character and layers of flavour that simply don't appear in a standard maturation process.
The result isn't more oak.
It's different oak.
What it delivers
The first thing you'll notice is texture.
Rich caramel, vanilla bean and toasted marshmallow arrive immediately, followed by baked stone fruits, cinnamon spice and roasted nuts.
As it develops, the toasted barrel influence becomes more apparent. Dark honey, crème brûlée, chocolate and gentle baking spices build across the palate, creating a bourbon that feels broader and more layered than the US★1 Bourbon it begins as.
The finish is long, warming and remarkably balanced, carrying sweet oak, vanilla and lingering spice without becoming heavy.
