Jack Daniel's has released a limited-edition whiskey celebrating their partnership with McLaren Racing, timed perfectly with the F1 circus heading to Melbourne. The collaboration marks another chapter in the Tennessee distillery's ongoing sponsorship of the papaya-orange team that's been turning heads on the grid.
This isn't just branded merchandise with whiskey inside. The release is a genuine Tennessee whiskey that's been finished in barrels that previously held McLaren's team champagne. It's the kind of detail that makes a collector's release worth considering, rather than just another corporate tie-in gathering dust on a shelf.
What Makes It Different
The whiskey itself follows Jack Daniel's signature charcoal mellowing process, but the champagne barrel finish adds a layer of complexity you won't find in the standard black label. Expect subtle fruit notes and a touch of sweetness that plays nicely with Jack's characteristic vanilla and caramel profile.
The packaging leans heavily into the McLaren aesthetic—sleek lines, racing heritage, and that distinctive papaya colour scheme. It's clearly aimed at the overlap between whiskey enthusiasts and motorsport fans, a demographic that's probably larger in Australia than most people realise.
Getting It in Australia
While the release has been available in limited quantities globally, the timing couldn’t be better for Australian fans. With the Formula 1 circus currently in Melbourne, Jack Daniel’s has leaned fully into the moment, activating across the city as McLaren’s official whiskey partner.
Around Albert Park and the surrounding suburbs, Jack Daniel’s has effectively built a small fan festival around the race weekend. Middle Park Hotel, sitting right outside Gate 1 of the circuit, has become the unofficial McLaren headquarters with Jack’s Street Party running across the race weekend. Expect big screens showing the race, live DJs, themed cocktails and the daily “Jack’s Hour” from 5–6pm with drink specials and merch giveaways.
A little further down the coast at The Espy in St Kilda, the brand has taken over the Gershwin Room with Jack’s Garage, a nightly concert series featuring Australian artists including The Presets, Slowly Slowly, Anna Lunoe and Keli Holiday. It’s free to attend, though RSVPs have been required given the race-week crowds.
Connecting the two venues is the Jack’s Bus, which doubles as a roaming tasting room during the day. From midday through the afternoon, hosted whiskey and cocktail tastings run onboard before the bus transitions into a shuttle service between venues in the early evening.
Over at Crown Melbourne, Jack Daniel’s has also taken over sections of the sports bar with Jack’s Pit Stop, featuring race-themed activations, viewing parties and giveaways including a trip to Las Vegas to support McLaren later in the season.
As for the bottle itself, Australian pricing - if it lands through standard retail channels - will likely sit somewhere in the $80–$120 range, above standard Jack Daniel’s but below their premium single barrel expressions. Given the current Grand Prix buzz and the McLaren partnership, don’t expect it to sit on shelves for long.
Whether you’re a McLaren fan, a Jack Daniel’s collector, or simply soaking up the race-week atmosphere around Melbourne, this release is one of those rare moments where whiskey and motorsport culture collide at exactly the right time.
